The representative staircase was modelled on the stairway inside the Pusłowski Palace located on Westerplatte 10 St. in Kraków. The building was the property of Franciszek Xawery Pusłowski, one of the most generous benefactors of the JU Museum. Similarly to the Palace, the staircase walls in Collegium Maius are decorated with French tapestries which formerly belonged to Duke François de Créqui, the Marshall of France during the reign of King Louis XIV (17th c.). The way through the St. Anne St. gate and the lobby next to the St. Jan Kanty Chapel is used by the most distinguished guests of the Jagiellonian University.
