In 1944, three air raid shelters were built for Germans living in luxurious tenement houses on Matejki Street. Each of them is located in Wilson Park. The first one is located along Matejki Street, the next one at the intersection of Matejki and Berwińskiego Streets, and the last one along Głogowska Street.
The shelter made available to visitors by the Poznań Palm House is located at the gate from Matejki Street. It consists of a series of narrow and winding rooms with a total length of 110 meters.
This object was discovered only in 1998 during the renovation of Wilson Park and the Palm House.
