10 species of trees and over 50 types of perennials. 296 trees and 465 bushes. And lots of rustling grass... Sounds like a recipe for a moment of respite in the middle of the city? This is perfect, because an integral part of the Cogiteon project is the park and the roof garden. As much as 2/3 of the area of our center will be covered by green areas.
Park with a playground
Lindens, maples, hornbeams, birches, oaks, plane trees and… apple trees. They will rule over the 2-hectare area adjacent to the building from the north-west. We wanted the park to include native species that would create the most natural landscape possible. We also wanted insects and birds to come here, so you will find drinking fountains, feeders and small wooden houses here. In addition to trees, there will be many different types of perennials. Yarrows, asters, Stipas, dogwoods and saffrons will make the surroundings of Cogiteon live and change colors all year round. These are just examples of the plants you will find.
The park will include a scientific playground where you can have fun.
Roof garden
This is the first establishment of this type in Krakow. You can walk on the roof of Cogiteon, admire the views and blooming plants. It will be an unusual botanical garden, divided into six types of meadows:
There will also be 12 serviceberry trees on Cogiteon. It is a spectacular tree with lots of white flowers in spring, blue fruit in summer, and orange-red leaves in fall. In the lowest part of the roof there will be a grandstand from which it will be possible to watch events organized on the runway, and from the top you will be able to admire the view of the former Rakowice-Czyżyny airport, the Old Town, and, if conditions are good, also the Tatra Mountains.
Former airports were designed as gardens for aviators. This idea is close to us, which is why the park and garden on the roof, along with the streamlined shape of the building, refer to the aviation traditions of the place from which Cogiteon grows.
Rainwater collected in a tank under the building will be used to water the plants.
The project is implemented with the support of European Funds.
