The museum is located in a 54 acre English landscape park. The exhibitions are held in several buildings listed below:

  • The Neo-Gothic Palace from the 1840s – permanent exhibition dedicated to Zygmunt Krasiński.
  • The Neo-Gothic Outbuilding – The House of Krasiński and Cabinet of Light Cavalry of the Napoleon’s Imperial Guard.
  • The Manor House (constructed according to a design by Józef Gałęzowski from the beginning of the 20th century) – 19th century Polish painting and sculpture.
  • The Coach House – exhibition of horse-drawn vehicles and European Hunting on Horseback Traditions.
  • The Orangery – conference center and concert hall, multimedia exhibition.
  • Folwark – “The Grange” with educational facilities, stable, and aviary.

The museum displays memorabilia linked to the history of the Krasiński family, especially Zygmunt Krasiński (1812-1859), the highly acclaimed poet and playwright, one of Poland’s Three Bards, author of “The Undivine Comedy,” whose extensive correspondence is today considered the pinnacle of Polish Romantic epistolography.

The museum also exhibits memorabilia of the Napoleonic era. Count Wincenty Krasiński, the poet’s father, was the commander of the 1st Polish Light Cavalry Regiment of the Imperial Guard.

The museum’s most significant exhibits are:

  • Napoleon’s portfolio seized by the Cossacks during the Battle of Berezina.
  • Portrait of Zygmunt Krasiński painted by his wife Eliza Krasińska of the Branicki family.
  • House of Krasiński family tree – a copperplate print on silk from the first half of the 18th century.
  • Seven large-format portraits of the Krasiński family.
  • Marble bust of the General Wincenty Krasiński from 1808 carved by the French sculptor François Bosio.
  • Two empire style bookcases with French book collection from 17th and 18th century, consisting mostly of historical and philosophical works.

The museum library holds early editions of Krasiński’s works, his extensive correspondence, and also a collection of illustrations and maps.

Outside the park, you can visit the Neo-Classical church with the underground crypt, in which there are tombs of the members of the Krasiński family. One of the many exquisite works of art which can be seen in the church is beautifully carved marble tombstone of Maria Urszula Krasińska of the Radziwiłł family, the poet’s mother.

Next to the Manor House there is a statue of Zygmunt Krasiński from 1989, sculpted by Polish artist, Mieczysław Welter, showing the poet sitting in the armchair. It is the only statue of Zygmunt Krasiński in Poland that has ever been made.

In the park, we can see typical for romantic gardens stone seats and tables: the stone chair named the Cieszkowski’s chair, the round table, and a stone vase with a column. There is also a marble bench commissioned in 1832 by Amelia Załuska, Zygmunt’s first love and muse, with the inscription “May you always remember me fondly.” According to the accounts of the guests visiting Opinogóra, everyone who sits on this bench will fall in love. At the foot of the Palace there is a stone cross from 1838 commissioned by Count Wincenty Krasiński to commemorate Bolesław IV of Warsaw, the Polish prince, who died in Opinogóra in 1454 during hunting accident.

For visitors the museum offers guided tours, museum lessons, practical workshops as well as concerts of classical music, poetry meetings, scientific sessions, and competitions. Furthermore the museum publishes advertising materials, catalogs and guides.
