Fisheries Museum (Hel) - National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk, Pomeranian, Hel

Situated in the historic building of the former Evangelical church dating back to the 15th century, the Fisheries Museum presents the history of Hel and the traditional regional fishing and boatbuilding craft of the Kashubians. Inside, where the unique arrangement combines the exhibition advantages with the exceptional features of the former sacred space, the historic boats and fishing tools are presented in the form of installations, as well as the boatbuilder’s workshops and topics related to the Baltic Sea ecology. The Museum collection also comprises a large variety of archive maritime photographs and paintings, including the paintings by e.g., Stanisław Kamocki and Jan Maksymilian Kasprowicz.. Around the building there are traditional fishing boats presented in the form of open-air museum, and the Museum special attraction is the tower with a view of the port in Hel and the Gulf of Gdańsk.
