This is a unique treasure of technology and one of the landmarks in the historic architecture of Gdańsk. Built in the 15th century, the port crane with a wooden structure embedded between two fortified towers is the only such object preserved in Europe. Currently, the renovation and modernisation works are conducted in the Crane, along with the installation of a new permanent exhibition. For the visitors, the exhibition combining modern technologies with detailed copy of the historic reality will become a time travel to the 17th-century Gdańsk. The exhibition narrative refers to the merchant sea voyages, shipbuilding techniques, arcana of the merchants’ transactions, goods reloading methods, as well as the port city entertainment. The Crane top floor will constitute a viewpoint overlooking the Motława River.
