Next to the parish church stands a 38-metre high tower, whose tented roof towers over the Krosno Old Town. Both the tower and its bells were founded in the 17th century by Robert Portius, a Scotsman who made his fortune by trading in Hungarian wine. The largest of the bells – known as Urban – is 490 cm wide in its lower perimeter and is one of the largest historic bells in Poland. Inside there is also a tower clock mechanism made in 1908 in the First National Tower Clock Factory of Michał Mięsowicz in Krosno.
In addition, the tower displays a watchmaking exhibition – part of the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Crafts in Krosno. In the summer season, temporary exhibitions are presented in the interior of the tower’s spire.
On the terrace there is a telescope, which allows you to admire the panorama of the town and the surrounding hills of the Low Beskidys range and the Strzyżów Foothills. During the tour, thanks to modern VR goggles, you can take a virtual balloon flight showing the historical Krosno.
