The Department of the History of Medicine of the Nicolaus Copernicus Museum is located in the post-hospital complex of St. Spirit. The hospital building with the Gothic chapel of St. Anne dates back to the first half of the 15th century and was built in stages. It is the only hospital monument in Poland that has been preserved unchanged since the beginning of the 17th century. Today it has become a place for exposing monuments of the history of medicine and temporary exhibitions related to the topics of death, disease and corporeality. There is also a herb garden
(Latin: herbularius) right next to the hospital.
