The tower was purchased by Nicolaus Copernicus after arriving in Frombork. The scientist did not observe the sky from it, but due to its defensive value, he arranged a room there for living and safe storage of the most valuable objects, books and manuscripts. The main house belonging to Copernicus, the canon, was located outside the walls of the stronghold, and he stayed in the tower in times of danger. The tower, called the Copernicus Tower since the 17th century, housed the first memorial room dedicated to the astronomer in the years 1912-1945. The current exhibition, arranged on three levels, shows the private world of Nicolaus Copernicus: the kitchen, bedroom and the scientist's office.
