This exhibition combines traditional display methods with state-of-the-art technology to create a narrative appreciable with all the senses. The setting is built around original artefacts from archaeological excavations in Mazovia. It is further enriched with filmed and drawn reconstructions, copies of artefacts which may be handled by the public, as well as various multimedia, games and puzzles for children. The combined content of the exhibition provides a compendium of knowledge about the Mazovian Centre of Metallurgy, which existed in Late Antiquity in western Mazovia; it presents an overview of the iron smelting industry in that era and the daily life at associated settlements, as well as the broader historical context of the MCM.

A special mention should be made of the holographic projection of a reconstructed painted glass beaker – the Museum’s most valuable artefact. Modern technology allows viewing this unique vessel crafted in the Roman Empire in its full glory for the first in almost 2,000 years. Another highlight of the exhibition is an interactive 360-degree video of scenes from the life in a prehistoric settlement. Visitors are free to adjust the perspective and navigate within the boundaries of the recorded space.

At present, Daybreak – Mazovian Centre of Metallurgy from the turn of the eras is the one and only exhibition in Poland with such a broad-scoped presentation of the fascinating subject of ancient metallurgy.
