History of Wilson Park
1834 - on the initiative of the Beautification Society, the Beautification Society was established in the commune of St. Łazarz, a nursery of ornamental trees and shrubs near Poznań, occupying the area of the current Wilson Park.
1904 - the nursery is turned into a botanical garden by the Poznań city authorities. The park layout was designed by H. Kube. The park consisted of two distinctive parts, an irregular part designed in the English style with a pond, a rock garden and a relaxation peninsula, and a regular part, divided into fields with floral decorations and botanical collections.
1925 - the School Botanical Garden is established at Dąbrowskiego Street, the current one is renamed the Park. TW Wilson.
1931 - unveiling of the TW Wilson monument funded by IJ Paderewski. Monument by G. Borglum (the monument was destroyed during World War II).
1951 - the name of the park was changed to Park im. Marcin Kasprzak.
1980 - the park was entered into the register of monuments.
1988 - a park restoration project was created, which enabled the reconstruction and enrichment of the park layout. On the basis of which, until 2004, several dozen large-sized deciduous and coniferous trees were planted, and small park architecture was reconstructed and enriched, which made Wilson Park one of the most representative parks in Poznań.
1990 – the name Wilson Park was restored.
1994 - unveiling of the bust of TW Wilson, made in 1928 by Z. Trzcińska-Kamińska.
